  • co-hosted and instructed at the first annual AWSDA training seminar to be held in Canada

2000

  • spent six months training full-time with Kung Fu master Phil Messina at Modern Warrior® Defensive Tactics Institute; awarded a green sash in Bo Fung Do Kung Fu and numerous instructor's certifications
  • This specialized training included defense against edged weapons, firearms, handcuffing, multiple opponent confrontations, fighting from the ground, confined area survival tactics, and other high-risk applications

1999

  • certified as "Level One" instructor in Defendo by Mike Mandel
  • certified as Rape Awareness Prevention instructor through AWSDA

1998

  • certified as SHARP instructor through PPCT Management Systems; taught first self-defense class
  • received Third Dan black belt from Kancho Okuyama, I.K.A.
